Back to School: Local Resources for Foster Kids & Families

It’s that time of the year!  September can become expensive with the need for back-to-school supplies, so we would like to share a few resources for families seeking assistance with school readiness this fall.

Firstly, we are delighted to share that Mammoth HR, a local human resources consulting firm, is hosting a school supply drive for Kinship House!  We have supplies available for families now, on a first come, first served basis; contact Erica at erica.a@kinshiphouse.org or sg@kinshiphouse.org for more information.

Project Lemonade is a local organization serving school-aged children, 5 years and older, and offers clothing, shoes, backpacks, and accessories year-round.  Supplies are offered via a storefront in the Lloyd Center Mall.  To request an appointment to shop, visit https://www.projectlemonadepdx.org/foster-families

iFoster is a national non-profit organization that seeks to provide families with various resources and opportunities to support students’ success in school and overall independence.  Membership is free, and grants access to resources for discounted supplies.  Beyond school supplies, iFoster also works with organizations to provide glasses, laptops, tutoring, and more, all at a discounted rate especially for foster families.  For more information on their back-to-school offerings, visit https://www.ifoster.org/back-to-school-resources-for-foster-youth/

Finally, With Love is a local resource offering clothes for children ages 0-6.  With Love is a primarily delivery-based service, and operates within a 30-mile radius of their warehouse located in Tigard, OR.  For more information and to request supplies, visit https://www.withloveoregon.org/request
