Kinship House is honored to call Coffee Creek Quilters a community partner. The organization teaches women incarcerated at Coffee Creek Correctional Facility how to quilt. The program provides a positive, hands-on opportunity to learn skills such as patience, problem-solving, and quality work. It also helps students develop self-esteem and self-confidence.
Each student makes three quilts over 18 to 24 months. The first two are donated to organizations like Kinship House and the student gets to keep the third one. The purpose of donating the first two quilts provides an opportunity for the students to give something beautiful back to the community. It is a first-time experience for many of the women in the class and they really enjoy reading thank you notes from recipients of the quilts.
Kinship House is very thankful for the beautiful quilts we have received!
