Kinship House is blessed with incredible community volunteer support ranging from monthly clean-up of our facility to helping out at our events.
Amber Hollingsworth is one of our superstar volunteers who is currently helping us secure items for our Light the Way Auction that is taking place on October 26 (save the date because we would love it if you could join us for a fabulous night of fun!). Recently, I reached out to Amber to find out little more about her and she was kind enough to share that with me!
- How did you hear about Kinship House?
The company I work for (Advantis Credit Union) donates $50,000 a year to local non-profits. Last year Kinship House was one of our grant recipients, so I got to read all about the good work they do, tour the house, and meet the amazing staff.
- What motivated you to start volunteering with us?
I’ve always been curious about foster parenting, and after learning that Kinship House had a need for volunteers, I thought what a great way to learn more and give back to my community at the same time.
- What kind of volunteer assignments have you worked on at Kinship House?
I started out cleaning therapy rooms at the house (which is actually way more fun than it sounds), then helped out at the annual fundraiser auction last year. This year I’m asking Portland businesses to donate items for our 2017 auction!
- What is a favorite childhood memory?
Tubing down the creek with my dozens of cousins at our family reunions in Ten Sleep, Wyoming.
- What is your favorite thing to do in Oregon?
