Happy Holidays from Kinship House
As the end-of-year bustle takes over in homes across the Portland metro area, we at Kinship House are looking ahead to growth and the ability to serve more kids in our community in 2016.
Not all children in our communities have a secure and stable home for the holidays, but every day we work to remedy that. We give children, and the adults that care for them, the skills they need to create their forever homes.
We would like to thank the June & Julian Foss Foundation for a grant supporting our “We are Not Alone” groups program, where children have an opportunity to build relationships with their peers in a supported environment.
Thanks to grants from the Irwin Family Foundation, the Jackson Foundation and the Stimson-Miller Foundation, we are able to hire additional therapists and we’re on track to move our administrative offices to an adjacent building in January. This long-awaited move will free up space in the main houses for six additional therapy rooms: three play therapy rooms, an art therapy room, one multipurpose room for older children, and an auxiliary space that is handicap accessible.
You can help us serve an additional 150 children in these new spaces in 2016 through your financial contribution or through a donation of much-needed supplies and toys for our new therapy rooms.
Through play and art, children are able to work with our therapists to sort through their emotions and learn new skills for success. Our new therapy rooms will need items such as dress up clothes, doll houses, figurines and play kitchens with food and utensils.
Please contact Tia at 503-460-2796 for details if you are interested in helping Kinship House furnish these newly-purposed rooms.
With your ongoing support we can continue to make a difference in the lives of some of the most vulnerable children in our community.
