Therapy

We provide innovative and individualized mental health treatment centered around play and child-caregiver connection. Our therapists specialize in developmentally appropriate therapy approaches including Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), Play Therapy, Sand Tray Therapy, Art Therapy, and more. Our primary goal is to provide the support that is needed, for as long as it is needed. Kinship House has a proven track record of supporting children so that they do not turn the corner toward hospitalization or enrollment in residential treatment programs.

Advocacy

Children in foster care are embedded in systems driven by adults. Kinship House fills a missing role as an advocate focused on centering the child’s mental health in all decisions made. Through best interest case assessments, and by hearing what the child needs, wants, and feels, we are able to advocate for children by testifying in court, attending family treatment team meetings, and in various other settings that impact each child’s future.

Psychiatry

When children are moved from one family to another – often in different communities – a child’s doctor changes too. Our psychiatrists ensure that children can maintain consistency and avoid lapses in prescribed medications even as they face multiple moves. This allows children to stabilize around a routine, adapt to consistent medications, and overall improve their health.
